Pink Cholla & Blue Sky
Central New Mexico, USA, where this cholla grows, is very dry and has gorgeous blue skies. The heat and dryness are hard on flowers but make nice pictures for a very brief time. As you can imagine, the moisture loss from the flowers is much higher than from the rest of the plant. The plant can’t afford the water loss of having flowers open to long.
